Groundswell, an association of persons, along with six District students and their parents, intervened in opposition to court-ordered race balancing in the District schools, in behalf of similarly situated students, parents, and citizen-taxpayers. This opposition was presented formally at a hearing on July 16, 1981, and was reiterated throughout the pendency of the case. The White enrollment had declined to 55.4 percent.
 

December 19, 1980

 

Crawford v. Board of Education, 113 Cal.App.3d 633 (Crawford II), rendered, upholding the constitutionality of Proposition 1 which amended Section 7(a), Article I of the California Constitution.
 

September 10, 1981

 

Final Approval of School Board Desegregation Plan and Discharge of Writ of Mandate by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert B. Lopez in Crawford v. Board of Education, No. 822854.
 

September 15, 1981

The Defendant Board, later joined by Groundswell, moved to terminate all court proceedings, (based on the Los Angeles Crawford Superior Court precedent), which was opposed by the Plaintiffs, and later denied.
 

June 30, 1982

 

Crawford v. Board of Educ., etc., 458 U.S. 527 (Crawford III) affirmed Crawford II.
